Thanks,

One of my parents car has a factory strut tower and I have long been considering and after market one for mine.

It seems to be much more solid of a ride.

Subframes? Bolt or weld-in? Downsides to welded in units?

Please post pros-cons...I assume weight gained is a minimum concern if handling/safety improves.

They are both GREAT ideas. I have both on my car and it makes a world of differece in handling. In addition, the subframe connector will increase the structural rigidity of your car.

What kind of cars are these?

Definitely weld in sub-frame connectors. The bolt in type will loosen up and no matter how much you tighten the bolts, it just does not compare to making the connectors function as part of the frame by welding them in. I asked what type of car because you should be aware that if there is substantial hp/torque involved, there will be a slight tendency to oversteer after the connectors are installed. Most factory suspensions are set up to understeer anyway, so you may wind up with something closer to a neutral chassis.

Strut tower connectors can't hurt.
