String trimmer?

I've used Ryan, craftsman, and husquvarna. The husquvarna and Ryan were the best, and the Ryan was curved shaft which I slightly prefer for some tasks. Especially since I have an edger, most of the trimming is around posts, rocks, and yard features, and I think I'll go back to a curved shaft next time.

But the husquvarna engine has been the best I've had.

All I can tell you is that I bought a Torro last summer and it's been nothing but a headache for me. I would recommend avoiding that brand.

I bought a Black and Decker 3 years ago. It was nice, at first. Two batteries lasted as long as I cared to spend trimming. This year it died. I need 2 new batteries, and a new spool retainer. If you go with B & D figure on spending $80 every 2 or 3 years for replacement parts.

We have a Cub Cadet combo weed eater/blower where I work. We use it around the office and fence line. Works great! Came with two batteries and holds a charge for a long time. Takes the .105" line. Bought it at Home Depot.

OP, are you sure you want battery/electric yard equipment?

I had them. Blower, trimmer... In the trash now. Once you go two-stroke, you never go back!
