Hey guys. Please recommend me a good make and model of dual line, straight shaft stringer trimmer for $200 or less. Looking for an overall good value and lighter weight unit just to trim around the house and property line. I don’t really need option for attachments such as a brush blade.

I just picked up one of those. I had a trimmer head left from my old Ryobi I'm using with it and going to put a blade on the trimmer head it shipped with to clear some medium sized brush. Haven't had a lot of time to use it yet, but tomorrow I'll be using it plenty if the rain holds off.

The echo 225 curved shaft is listed at 10.1 lbs. Echo straight shaft 11.5lbs.
I would look at weight closely as i shopped. Especially if you have a good bit to cut!

This is the only game in town at that price IMO. It was a little over $200 last time I checked, but worth it. I bought an SRM-266 (next model up) a few years ago and it's top notch, haven't had any trouble at all out of it.
Cub Cadet is owned by MTD IIRC. MTD bought out a ton of brands and proceeded to send production overseas and most previously decent lawn equipment ended up as inferior junk. Even the Cub Cadet website reviews (which are likely filtered) are full of warnings about quality.
+1 purchased my Echo in 2002 and it's still running strong.
I agree. The world is changing. If you trim for 20 to 30 minutes, consider a cordless with 20 V, 5 AH or else go with noise, vibration and two cycle fumes...The smell of victory.
Tractor Supply also sells the Poulan Pro in your price range. I bought it mainly for the pole saw but the trimmer works great as well.
I think I have the Stihl FS70? It’s their smallest commercial model. It’s a beast, but I have a lot to do.
If you can get away with an electric model, I’d do that personally. No gas or noise. I need to wear hearing protection with mine so that’s one less hassle if you do the same.

I have the same trimmer and am just a homeowner myself, also with a lot to trim. It has enough power to run a bed redefiner blade, I bought the echo bed blade and use it in the spring.
OP should look for a decent used one of these.
Stihl by far. My current one is 26 years old. Some models made in china so stay away from them. What I especially like is they have a support chain and can be repaired via dealerships. Blower is now 16 years old.
My Poulan Pro has been great. I borrowed one from my uncle and put it to work a few summers ago so I knew what I was getting. If you find a Stihl that's a good deal, you may want it just for service after the sale.
Somewhat OT. My parents have had great luck with Stihl in general. I’d say their blower and string trimmer are around 15-20 years old as well.
I think the blower is the BG85. Pretty decent machine and used hard in the fall as they live in a woods. I bought the BG86 assuming it’d be just as good and it just isn’t the same. Thinking about trading it in for the equivalent Husqvarna commercial model, but I really need to take it to their house and compare models on a driveway full of leaves first.
