Stratapore or not? Fleetguard LF3947

Actually, the LF3947 IS a Stratapore-it just has a smooth can instead of the LF16035's fluted can-but that can has flutes! I'm smelling a potential counterfeit filter here, I would talk to Fleetguard about it. Where did you get it?

i have also noticed the filter i have has 6 inlet holes
in pictures i have found, the filters that say stratapore on the canister have 8 inlet holes

I ran the 3947 and 16035 on the Cummins Filtration website. They said this about the 16035: •Stratapore version of LF3972. This filter is similar to LF3894 except it has a fluted shell for 03MY Dodge Ram application.

According to their pictures the 16035 has 8 holes and the 3947 has 6 holes.

Now I have a 16035 sitting in shrink wrap in my basement and will have to have a look and see if it is fluted and what hole count she has. I bought from a local Fleetguard supplier.

Here I am all confused in my old age, comparing the 16035 and the 3947/3972. My apologies. What application is the 3947 used in?
