I bought by mistake straight weight 30 Ace hardware oil can I use it in a Honda lawnmower engine that calls for 10/30. Engine about 14 years old uses no oil.

It will work just fine, and there will not be any problems. Straight 30 was the air cooled engine standard for, well, forever. With good reason. It handles the heat very well, and there are no viscosity index improvers to break down.
What is it rated? is it HD or ND? if ND then NO. Could also be API SAE 30 with current API S -service category then that is O.K. also,
I would not run something without certs or approvals on the back label regardless of ad text, I know ACE sell some of this stuff.

Don't assume it's even for internal combustion engines. As Arcographite said, if it's not API rated then don't use it. There is a slew of ND30 oils out there that look like motor oil but they're for vacuum pumps and other devices that don't require a detergent or anti-wear package.
HD30 - YES/JA/DA
ND30 - NO/Nein/Net
If the bottle looks like this and it is number 8706723 then DO NOT use it:
Is it ACE labeled lawnmower oil or a major brand?
I haven't looked for ND stuff (used ND as a top oil in the gas tank in the past - wanted ND to prevent cat and plug fouling)
It used to be on the shelf with the detergent oils - Brands like Coastal and Mag1 and Supertech. likey caused some engine problems for the uninitiated.
Again do NOT use ND unless it's for a pressure washer requiring ND hydraulic oil in the pump compresor section ONLY.

That bottle's shape and size favors a pennzoil/quaker state.
I've used straight 30 in all my small engines for decades. For a hot running air cooled engine it's a more robust choice than a variable viscosity oil.
Only recently I switched to 10w-30 for my generator since it is most likely to be needed in bitter cold and yanking the rope isn't as much fun as it used to be. I've also using 15w-40 in my mowers since I now own a diesel tractor and they sell the diesel oils at a great price in five gallon pails.

I've been slowly converting all of my warm weather OPE to 15w-40 Rotella T6. It seems to so the same job as SAE 30 and it is synthetic, so it flows better when cold. I might go through 4-6 quarts per season. The cost differerential between synthetic an conventional is irrelvant.
That being said, I have yet to go off the 10w-30 reservation on Honda powered equipment. They make good engines and know their stuff when it comes to oil recommendations.
