"STP The Racer's Edge" At our power generation station, the manufacturer of the air cylinder actuators for our coal burner igniters specified a lubricant that no one in engineering had ever heard off. It was the chemical name of STP. So STP was made a tool room/warehouse item and pretty soon every vehicle in the county had STP in it.

Years ago I had a 73 Volkswagen. I was running STP in it when the oil pump failed. I drove it home for several miles at 0 oil pressure. Installed a new oil pump and went on my way. Drove the car for several years after that with no problem. I attribute that to STP.
