I typically top up my truck when the snow flies. If the weather clears and I end up using the truck again, when I go to fill-up I add whatever Stabil matches the fuel added so the ratio stays constant.

Haven't had an issue. I think your plan will work fine given the potential non-drive time.

Fill with high octane, and then spike it with xylene or toluene before you start it, if you are worried about it.
