I have a 1991 Honda CRX Si with 29,000 original kilometers that has been in storage since 2005. The oil and filter were changed before storage with Motomaster Full Synthetic 10W30 and a Baldwin B227 respectively. The vehicle is started on a regular basis and run to full operating temperature. I plan to drive the vehicle this summer and was wondering if it would be a good idea to change out the filter as the Baldwin has been on there for a couple of years now. I have a spare (GULP) Fram PH3593A that I got for free with a coupon when I bought a jug of oil from Canadian Tire sitting on the shelf.

I'd change the oil and filter. The FRAM is okay, but there are better filters out there. The mileage seems very low for a car of that age.

i agree....and run a few tanks of fuel injector/carb cleaner through it when you get it on the road

Wow very cool! I never see any CRXs that are in good shape, let alone with low mileage. Surely one of a kind! Is there any rust on it or anything?

No rust on the vehicle whatsoever. I've owned the vehicle since new (bought it in July of 1991) and it has never seen a winter. Geez, if you translated the kilometers into miles, it would only have 18,000 miles on it. I just don't have the time to drive it anymore.

Anyway, most people here think I should do a complete oil and filter on it. Could there be an issue with the oil sitting in the pan for the last 2 years?

I've always loved the CRX, it's just one of the coolest hatchbacks out there in my book. If I were looking for a new car i'd definitely buy that from you! I've always wanted a CRX but they're so hard to find here. The only ones i've seen were beat up and rusted beyond repair. I would do a complete change just to be on the safe side.

That's one sweet little car you got there. I had a 91 Civic Si (Tahitian Pearl Green) and what a cool little ride it was.

Pick yourself up a Honda filter and fill 'er up with Pennzoil Platinum. (that's what I'd do anyway)

Honda A01 all the way

do a few short oil change intervals of 2k miles if you are worried about what was sitting in the pan for 2 years....
one auto-rx treatment can't hurt!

Just came across this thread - while this isn't oil-related, do you have any pics of what I am assuming are an immaculate, like-new CRX? I had one from '01 to '05 and did some work on it (see username) and regret having to sell it. It's getting impossible to find them in clean condition like mine was (relatively speaking)!
