I have a Honda CRV as a daily driver and I have some items in the back cargo area that slide around and I'm trying to figure out how to prevent them from sliding around. I'm mostly looking to secure the plastic Rubbermaid tote with the bottles of water. The only thing I can thing of is trying some sticky backed Velcro and apply it to the floor liner and the bottom of the box. I don't want to screw anything to the interior or permanently modify the car at all. Thanks for any suggestions!

Adjustable length flat bungee cord straps and secure your items using those loops in the back of your seat and any loops in the cargo area if you have them. I keep a pair in my hatchback. Found them at Wall-Mart. They look like this:

Ratchet straps or put everything in one corner and put something heavy covering the corner, like a tool box.

I have a larmge cargo net that I use in the back of my Jeep GC. It has 4 hooks at the corners and stretches over odd shaped items. Secures things rather nicely most of the time. Check ebay or amazon.com Jeep dealer will probably charge half an arm for a net.

Does your vehicle have hooks to attach a cargo net or bungee straps to.

Another thought (I have not tried) would be a 1' layer of sand. Kind of dig out a spot for the cooler, place it in the spot and backfill if needed. If 1' does not work, try 2' and its extra weight for traction in the winter weather.

I had a mini pick-up with a plastic shelf behind the seats with a similar problem a long time ago. I added strips of anti-slip tape (like what you put on floors & steps) to the shelf, that helped.

This.

Rubber shelfing paper. Or get two layers of foam carpet liner/backing, sew/glue them together, and put cutouts in the top foam for your stuff.

Sandbags. Florists use them to keep the arrangements upright in their delivery vans.

You can make a compartmentalized wooden box the width of the cargo area and bungee it to the rear seat supports.

It looks like you have factory built ledges that you could build a box to sit into between the wheel wells there. Removable, leaves no marks, prevents items from sliding as well as allows tiered storage in the back.

A sheet of the rubberized stuff that is used to keep rugs from sliding will work. A roll is about $10 at Home Depot...cut to size as needed.

This.

+1

Cargo net will probably be more functional than bungee cords. The net will have a much larger surface of contact with the items in the trunk.
