Just curious. Other than marketing, can someone chime in on why Valvoline seems to be all the rage? I've looked at the lab results for 5W30 and 0W20 and see similar TBN, Zinc, Phosphorus, Molybdenum and detergent numbers as others at lower prices. I've run Quaker State conventional, then synthetic blend and full synthetic on all of our cars for over 35 years and have racked up over 420k on a few with zero issues and ultra clean heads when doing the occasional valve cover gasket. I'm really not brand biased and go more by the lowest price with API approval and by the lab analysis results of the TBN and additive package. Valvoline was always higher priced but if it is a genuinely better product, I'd like to know.
