Stocking Up On Motor Oil

I actually just sold the remaining M1 15w50 stock. I hadn't kept up with prices and had it listed accordingly but Walmart has changed. They now list 1 jug for $31.97 which is outrageous but online you get get the multipacks where they are only $24.97 each. I sold mine for $20 each and gave one free because they took all of it, had I checked the current price I wouldn't have done that. I had it listed for a few months and just now sold it. I still came out well ahead though and purchased it during those special deals from a few yrs ago if anyone remembers.

I checked others on there, SOPUS is the worst offender. Pennzoil Platinum is $35.97 and Quaker State Full Synthetic is $29.97. Castrol is currently on "rollback" but was at least priced normally, even Valvoline is higher.
Where do you sell oil you don’t need? I have some I’d like to move out of the garage.

Marketplace, I didn't really have a use for 15w50 maybe for an older Briggs or something but the person is going to use it in their race car. I think that's why it sat for so long is's a niche oil. If you do decide to list it for sale watch out for the lowballers, I don't mind offering someone a fair deal but I'm not going to just give it away either. I found it can take awhile before you actually get what you want, I'll create a listing and then right away I'll start getting offers for something like 1/2 off, also once the listing becomes stale then you get offers where they think you're ready to sell for cheap now just to get rid of it.

But right now I'm good on oil and filters, I have enough to last probably 10 yrs, my other Civic was effectively totalled last year which is one less that I'm maintaining at the moment which means my stash will last that much longer.

Is there a thread to follow for “smoking deals”? I would love to get a notification when someone pipes up that they found VRP for under $5/qt.

Haha thanks, didn’t realize the rabbit hole and stocking up everyone does here! Thought I was insane buying 40 quarts of oil but glad i’m not the only one.
I have ~ 60 quarts in stock. I stocked up as soon as the war started. I usually carry ~ 30. 1 car (5 qts), a truck (8qts) and a SUV (6qts). Pressure washer, riding mower, generator and walk behind mower. One change on all is ~ 22 qts.

smart… I only have the Sienna and Crosstrek so I need about 11qts for doing oil change on both.

I have:

1x 12qt Garage Box 5W30 Valvoline Advanced
1x 12qt Garage Box 0W20 Valvoline Advanced garage box
2x 20qt Garage Boxes 5W30 Valvoline Restore and Protect
2x 5qt jugs of 0W20 Valvoline Extended Protection
1x 5qt jug of 0W30 Mobile 1 Advanced Fuel Economy

I think I’m in good shape. I wanna sell the 5W30 Advance and 0W20 Advance in fact.
