It's a novel. I'm aiming for 75K words. This scene takes place just after page 200, so about 100 pages to go (~250 words/page). It's a mystery, too, so after I get them out of the hole they're in, there's still the revelation of the murderer (a thunderbolt, I hope). And at the end, Sydney, the narrator, will have learned a thing or two about courage -- her own, and other people's.
The fellow who just bought, and runs, Margaret Media, a small Loozyana-oriented publishing house, is a member of my writing group, and he knows and is pleased with my work. He wants to expand into e-books and even audio books -- so we'll see.
