I have a stihl 4 mix trimmer and I like it overall other than the fuel economy. I adjusted it from the way it was set because I think the mechanic adjusted it when he put fuel in it at the dealer. I basically turned the the low speed screw set at 1 full turn out and the high speed was about 1.75 turns out and it ran great like this and got really good fuel economy. I turned in the hi speed screw until the trimmer started losing rpm and then I backed it off about 1 full turn so I don't think this was be set too lean. This put it at 1.75 turns out, anything wrong with setting it like this? It doesn't bogg down or lose power when hot, so I don't think it's running lean. Opinions? This thing sucks down fuel if I put it at the supposed factory setting of 3 turns on the hi speed and .75 on the low speed screw. I also read something that said the low speed screw was supposed to be at 2 turns and the hi speed at 3 turns out. Either setting it runs just fine as far as power is concerned. This is a 4 stroke engine that uses 2 cycle oil to lubricate itself just for those who don't know.

The only drawback of low rpm I can think of is lubrication starvation but that may not apply to a small trimmer motor.
