I have a Sthil HS 56c trimmer that I let set for over a year. I changed everything on it to try and get it working again. It will idle fine and runs good but it’s a bear to get started. After I get it started I can stop and it will restart no problem but if it sets for a few hours and cools down it is extremely hard to start. Anyone have an idea what the problem is? I’m afraid to adjust the carburetor when it runs so good.

Check the screen in the spark arrestor if you haven’t yet. Might not be the problem but They often clog up with unburned oil. I use a torch to burn the gunk off the screen.

Thanks for the ideas on what I might do. What I have done thus far is new carburetor, spark plug, fuel lines, air and fuel filters, new spark arrestor, and new primer bulb. I’m retired and just playing around with some of my old junk I have around. I wanted to see if I could get any of them working. I just don’t see how it can idle and run so good and just can’t get it to start. I also have a toro weed eater and a Poulan chain saw I’m playing with. Same luck with them also. All Bad
