StevieC was banned! What gives?

Good riddance, he did not obey the rules and got banned, who cares how much he contributed, rules are rules. I read the first post for his temp ban, I think he deserved it and he was lucky it was a temp ban, he was given a second chance, which is more than others got and obviously did not learn his lesson, so this time it is permanent.

What some here are asking for is special treatment, is that really what we want, guys with thousands of posts running their mouths with immunity because they're contributing, while everybody else has to follow the rules?

Hats off to mods for sticking to their guns, sure we lost a valuable member, but life goes on, get over it.

He called another poster a liar and accused him of fabricating information, under the guise of "just sharing an opinion". It was out of line and when he came back from his initial "vacation" it was clear he had not taken any time to reflect on why what he did was inappropriate. No suprise then that he did something else against the rules.

I've got no beef with the guy, don't really care. But for him and his defenders to perpetuate the idea that he didn't do anything wrong is misguided.

What exactly did he do wrong after the time out, that got him launched a second time? Certainly it would be something we'd all want to avoid. Thanks

Perez...err, I mean Stevie got permanently booted? It must have been the sleep apnea

I think most of us would like to know also.

That is a shame, but no-one can say he was not given LOTS of warning - he even admits that he was given plenty of chances to fix things.

But, in the end, he didn't like the general way this place is run, and felt he had to have his say, and part ways with us. I don't think he's mad about it - in PM's with him, he knew what he was doing, and did it to make a point he thought had to be made.

Unfortunately, by doing that, he has begun to expose just HOW MUCH this place has changed - how rigid and intolerant this place is of differing opinions and 'pushing the limits' a bit.

I completely understand the pont that this is a private board, therefore the owner, Helen, is free to set up the rules she wants. But, the other side of the coin is if you set-up a website on the web, by virtue odf where it is, it is a partially public forum...so rigid rules aren't going to work. Maybe Helen will elarn that someday, maybe not, I dunno.

I have always wondered how some folks on a website get so up tight over oil and such,,reminds me of truckers wanting to fight someone at such and such an exit by communicating over a CB radio,,big brave truckers over the radio. Lets all get along. PS Im at exit 317 if u wanna rumble on I40, lol. amen......lol

I agree 100% I also think that he may have got more chances than most of us would have.. I don't want to be a part of a forum that lets some select people get away with anything, and if I'm in conversation with them get booted myself.. As long as the treatment is equal to all I will continue to be a part of the forum regardless if I like the rules or not.. but when certain people get specialty treatment I will go elsewhere...

again good job mods in keeping the forum clean, readable, and in the equal treatment.

I know calling someone a liar got him a time out, and should have gotten him a time out. I'm trying to figure out what went down the final time that got him launched?

This site consists of much more than just one person...

People come, and people go. Some just go sooner than others.

Stevie C, good bye, farewell, so long. You provided some character to the forum, some educational posts, as well as some entertainment.

But, I enjoy the civility of this forum compared to so many others and I endorse the policies. Thank you moderators.

I imagine that navigating a forum with rules is not unlike navigating life. It requires social skills. Some get it, many struggle forever. I prefer to "bend in the wind" in this instance:

"I love the fable of the mighty oak and the humble reed. The oak that was so confident and proud of his deep roots and stature compared the the humble reed that grew along a riverbank. As you know in the fable the storm blew the oak down and the reed survived the storm by bending with the wind instead of fighting to stand tall. This fable applies to so many life lessons....."

I'd be interested in the exact details too, but I don't think they'll be forthcoming. Per Helen's post on the first page of this thread:

"StevieC is permanently banned as a result of ongoing problems. He had been warned several times. You can not ignore the rules and expect to remain a member. Rob, he did not come back and behave himself. His post is in quarantine and it is not available."

Here's his first post when he came back from his ban:
"It bothers me though that I was sent away in the first place for having an opinion but whatever that is behind me now."

Like I said I don't think he actually learned his lesson and when you're coming back from a ban and apparently multiple prior warnings you're going to be on a short leash.

I agree. I will leave my comment at that.

i'm having a coffee, and lmao at the inane nature of this soap opera thread. a guy that was given plenty of chances,by his own admission, as addyguy states -- is gone -- who cares? anyone that repeatedly shoots himself in the foot, and expects to not bleed -- then that person is just stupid.period.that applies to life , in general.
to the people that keep going on about the trigger happy nature of the mods/helen -- you whine about it, yet you're still here. that's illogical AND stupid.
crinkles says that he doesn't get the drama. that's two of us.maybe, if he and i started watching general hospital, then we'd understand.
at any rate, thanks to a few of the posters on this thread.my morning laugh is important. take care.

Are you implying StevieC is stupid?

Are you implying I'm whineing? Not so just voicing my opion as everyone else has done here, at least thats my opion on all the opions.

Okay, out of respect for Stevie and other members I'm going to close this thread.

Stevie was aware of the rules and he decided on what ended up happening.

Any comments, PM me.

Bill
