Steel Toe Boots/Shoes

Best advice is don't be afraid to spend little money on a boot that works for you.

My personal choice is Red Wing. I wear Red Wings every day at work, and I've been wearing the same style boots since 1998. The boots I wear are still made in the USA. My boots usually last about 2 to 2 1/2 years, worn every day, outdoors in mud, dirt, water, you name it.

Red Wing doesn't hide anything when it comes to their boots and shoes - you can easily sort online between the imports, made in the USA, and made is the USA from imported materials, and it isn't hidden on the labeling on the product either. If your desire is for US made, they usually have something that will work.

While I like my Red Wings, others like other brands, and I know people who prefer Danner, Wolverine, and Carolina boots. I have not tried them, just know that others have also had success.

I gotta say I bought a pair of red wing boots with "king toe" and it has composite toe instead of steel. These boots are Chinese and have glued on soles (or what appears to be molded to the leather)

they are 2 1/2 years old of me wearing them everyday doing everything from normal walking on side walks, riding ATVs, mud bogs, cutting down trees, winter usage, even walking into bon fires and these things still work awesome and are still water proof. Im on my 3rd pair of laces but after thet they are awesome.

I'm a big fan of Red Wings. I have had one pair of their Worx boots (cheaper line), and two pairs of actual Red Wings. All steel toe hikers.

For me, the break in was a little rough, but once the boots are broken in they are very comfortable and I have no problem wearing them all day with lots of standing and walking.

I get about two years of daily use out of them before they are looking really beat up. I've never had one actually come apart though. They hold up well to gas, chemicals, and water.

Get the carbon fiber toe insert. Walking around all day with steel toes will make you tired, and your back sore. I think Red Wing was the easiest to get around here, and they had the widest selection.
