Stay Away from Pronto Oil Filters!

So my local Automotive shop uses Pronto Chinese Oil Filters for doing oil changes... I went on a trip a few hours on the Freeway in my Chevy Silverado within 100 miles after the oil change and noticed 30psi Oil pressure on down fom my normal 42.5 Psi when on the freeway... Hot Idle down 5 psi as well... Changed to a Stp filter that I had in the Garage and bam back to normal Oil pressure....! Stay away!! BTW My truck used to be at 55 Psi 100K ago, I know it wearing out, but jeez, 12.5 psi down instantly, i knew there was a problem! I also normally bring them my own filter and oil., but this time, i was busy and needed to get it done right away... Live and learn! Going on Monday to report to the shop! They are good freinds of mine, hopefully they will change vendors in the future...

He told a story of a Group 7 oil filter releasing its media with the blob clogging the oil delivery and killing the engine.
FFW to the moral of the story: You go for cheap, you get cheap.

If it took 100 miles to see a change in the oil pressure, then it's possible the filter was failing somehow and causing more flow resistance. If it was just due to the filter being really restrictive from the start, you would have seen the drop in oil pressure right away, not a 100 miles later.

STP is also made by PG so if it’s the filter that’s interesting. C&P would be great.

^^^^ this or everything else is an assumption that a "good" filter was the problem. We need more facts before determining that ALL Pronto filters are bad.

I don’t buy this BS line for a minute. I’ve used pronto oil filters for years without issues. Photos or it’s not true.

Me either, I could see OP convincing themselves that the filter was to blame but to post such a bold claim here for all to "Stay away" w/little evidence other than a posted paragraph is laughable at best. The Pronto I use is PG made & excellent quality.

I didn't Notice it Right away, never looked at the Gauge until I was was Driving on the Freeway when I Noticed it and the engine was warmed up...
