I definitely have a concern. Last night, upon returning from work, I checked my mail, and I now have an official U.S. Passport! This proves that I could in fact get one. I never saw a reason why I would be denied. So now I have one. Yay.
The problem is, that.. in order to get it, the State Department office had to hang on to my Birth Certificate. That is fine.. I only have one, the original. I submitted it, as per the procedure, and as far as I know, I have not received it back.
I do plan on visiting the office as soon as possible, to inquire about where it could be.. they don't make getting a replacement Birth Certificate easy, but that's not even the point, it's an identifying document. My question is, has this ever happened to anyone else?
