Anyone heard of or used star fire synthetic blend? It's api SN gf-5. This shop I started working for today uses it. Just curious if anyone has seen it.

Yep. My shop inadvertently gave my Pilot an oil change using this oil. Dumped M1 after only about 2k.

I started a thread about it back then, about 2 months ago. It should be fine in that car for about a 6k run. I'm going to do a used oil analysis on it and post it here.

Coolantplus inc. Out of Ohio. Someone had told me today that it was a SOPUS product. But I am failing to find any evidence of that being true.

Mobil, shell, castrol, valvoline, etc all sell base oils and make different formulations for smaller companies.

I've seen mentioned on here royal purple buys mobil synthetic base stocks. Though I can't find an official answer on that and probably won't. Just an example.

We used a case of their antifreeze about a month ago at the shop. I wasn't aware they had a motor oil. If it meets API SN/GF-5 standards, it should be fine. Pretty tough standards to pass.
