Trying to figure out recommended stall speed for a stock 2013 Silverado 4L60E 4.8 and trying to find more detailed information on how to perform a stall speed test should I turn off traction control to perform this any help would be appreciated

Brakes on, accelerator pedal to the floor, tires not spinning. The Rpm you can achieve is the stall speed for that particular setup. The same converter behind a 5.3 with more torque would stall at the higher rpm.

Any idea what specifications for stall speed would be
For a stock 4.8 from that era it seems the consensus is about 1400-1600

What is it you are trying to do?

Make it quicker? Did you modify the engine in a way that reduced low end torque and trying to take advantage of more top end power? If you were racing the truck then they typically recommend a stall speed about 500-1000 rpm short of peak torque but a stall that high on a daily driven 4.8 would be horrible and make a horrendous amount of heat, and probably destroy the lockup clutch pretty quickly.

It would be a low stall TMBX code 300mm converter...Same as the 5.3L & 6.0L 4L60E/4L65E used in earlier model full size trucks/SUV's.

4.3L V6 trucks had a little higher stall.

The TMBX is the most reliable lock-up converter GM ever made....I'd leave it be.
