Just like title says, what are your thoughts on Super Tech Synthetic and store brand synthetics? I did load up on the $17.27 Super Tech syn 5w30 at wal mart near me. Is it true that in some parts of the U.S.A. Super Tech oils are CITGO now? Around here in western PA its still WNE/WPP. I have some old as in SL Super Tech oil thats Mobil conventional. Would not care to hear how inferior, who made this batch and other b.s. also so advice, and good info is helpful. If you want to bash this good quality oil, please dont reply.

thanks in advance

I heard a rumor in some places that the Super Tech SYN is actually Mobil 1. As for store brands I would go with the Napa SYN. Both oils can easily do 5k- 7.5K OCI.

I had not heard that it was by Citgo. Up here the conventional is made by Warren Performance Products (WPP). In the south there were some bottles that were clearly Mobil bottles, and the MSDS said Exxon Mobil.

Their conventional oil is good, but I don't know much about their synthetic. I don't recall much conversation in BITOG, that included actual data, about their synthetic. Lots of rumors.

Even down in Charlotte NC area where the mom and stepdad live its WNE/WPP. Sorry, I dont use NAPA oils, never have, never will. I would NOT go with them either. Thought I saw a Super Tech syn UOA here somewhere will have to look into it. Thanks TinmanSC for the advice.

Just FYI, NAPA oils are Valvoline all over the US. But, to each their own. If you can find a used oil analysis for Super Tech syn please post!

#1 Reason, is that they never seem to have 5w20 or 0w20 in stock. That p.o. me off in a second. Any reason you dont use this NAPA OILS thing in every vehicle since you say its "great oil for the price"? That is a assumption, not a fact. I'll stick with my Quaker State Ultimate Durability 0W20, 5W20 and Mobil 1 0W40 oils, thank you much.

We all know Napa oil is made by Valvoline but I want to hear his specific reason why he wouldn't use it. I rather use that over ST. ST is a great oil still.

Have NOT found a single UOA for Super Tech SYN. I know who NAPA oils are also, just dont give a sh**. I have honestly 2 cases of SM ECO POWER syn blend oil, I bought today from SAFETY KLEEN oil for like $32 sale. I dont like NAPA'S add pack even if it is from Valvoline, and valvoline does not produce their own oil like M1, SHELL, CONOCO PHILLIPS, CASTROL, KENDALL and others do. I like that MAG1 makes Super Tech OILS.

While they may buy some basestock from Mobil, like many others do, that does not make it Mobil 1.

While Id never trust supertech made to the lowest bidder Dexron, which no longer has a license, Id use Super Tech syns that have an API cert, if it made sense.

If it were a Citgo (Venezuela) product, Id avoid for other reasons.

Good point JHZR2. Also why would anyone use NAPA oil that is more than Super Tech oil in the first place. I have read a ton of Super Tech conv used oil analysis and they show good wear and good results! End of discussion. Lets hear from other members that use store brand oils other than NAPA [censored].

Why buy st when Quaker State Ultimate Durability is right next to it for $3 more?

As far as house brands. I loaded up on napa syn a while back for $2.50 a qt and ran it 5k. I was pleased with the oil. But I have never been disappointed with anything by Ashland.

That is true Electrolover, and I said; I never see 5w20 or 0w20 in stock at 2 napas near me! Sm00thpapa, check out my PM to you.

Napa is good oil! But dont buy it unless its on sale. It ain't worth $7 a qt! Youd be better off getting synpower and filter from autozone or O'Reillys for $30. Which isn't a bad deal.

Guys, I am sorry but I never used NAPA syn or conv. Feel free to tell me how good it is and post some used oil analysis on it. Nothing against it, just seems to me that it IS NOT a long drain oil as SYNPOWER is not either. Correct me if I am wrong. Keep the store brand oils, ST stories coming PLEASE!!

I just looked at ST jugs at chinamart yesterday. Now they also have new squarish looking jugs. I think it says LEE on the bottom.

So you like recycled used oil over NAPA/Valvoline virgin oil. Makes perfect sense to me.
