i searched first, and apparently no one has asked this question.

my question is specifically for the SR20DET should i be using a conventional oil, or synthetic?

ive heard both sides, that syn's make SR's run great, but the owner of the shop that put my motor in said strongly NO SYNTHETICS, but didnt say why, he just told me no.

so im looking for a little more definitive reason as to "should i use synthetics or not?"

The SR20DET is a great engine, i'm assuming you're using it in an older Sentra SE-R? If it sees any racing i'd use a nice synthetic in it. For everyday driving and reasonable OCI's you'd probably be fine with a nice SM conventional oil. Good luck!

LOL! YOu can/shall consider synthetics if you operate your engine as if you stole it, or under extreme heat/load conditions over an extended period of time.

Otherwise, ThirdeYe is correct RE: SM conventional oil (ILSAC GF-4).
