1) 3 pairs of lounging shoes, good quality, new under $50 TOTAL at Big 5 close out sale. Brown heavy pair for MB riding, Dickies Brand, good quality. Two white w/dark blue accents - pairs of Reboks, one cross trainer for working out, the other EE wide, no one wanted - great fit for walking.

2) I always dilute my shampoo. Sometimes, nearly 50% with water. Hair stays clean, less soap build up. Save money.

3) Pull all weeds by hand. You know where I'll be today!

No High dollor weed killer. Bleach cost 1.00 a gallon and is much better then 15.00+ weedkiller.

I sent a car to the crusher and saved 5 gallons of gas and 20 cents worth of windshield squirter fluid. I also found about 40 of the previous owner's pennies which covered the tax at burger king. Lady just dropped them in the drawer without counting.

I always bought all my casual shoes at Big 5 close out sale, some as low as $10 or less.

Me too, I diluted my shampoo with 1/3 water and pull weeds by hand.

I also use 1/2-3/5 detergents for dish washer and cloth washer.

1) bought big K sodas (house brand) from Kroger, 0.59 cents each on sale this week.
2). Picked up three movies free from the library (ninja assassin, couples retreat, and the serious man)
3). got gas at Thorntons, Used a coupon for 1 free gallon of gas from junk mail they sent about their new convenience store opening.
4). Went to walgreens photo lab, used a 50% off printer cartridge refill coupon. 2nd attempt to get my HP 92 cartridge refilled. different walgreens said it didn't pass the test for refill. 2nd walgreens said it passed and I got it refilled. printed page to confirm it worked. I probably saved $20 yesterday easily.

I drive 49cc scooters when the weather permits. Otherwise I drive a 3-cyl. Chevy Metro. Does that count?

The garden is doing good this year, made it a little larger too. Won't have to buy green-beans this winter - and should have plenty of onions too. It does make a big difference, and healthier too.

Most of the grocery shopping is done at 'Save-A-Lot' and discount stores always have good deals on shoes/clothes/etc.

Don't forget yard-sales - occasionally some great deals there too.

Another one:

Bath and Body works foaming soap dispenser does not need B&B's expensive refill. Regular bulk hand soap dilute with 3x as much water will foam just as well in the foaming dispenser.

What mechanical process causes the foaming to occur?

There is an "air pump" inside the head that squeeze air along with the soap dispensed. As long as the soap is the correct viscosity and have no anti-foam additives, it should work fine (although it may not smell the same or have the same protection to your skin as the B&B stuff).

Christmastime I got some chase credit card offer in the mail, $50 credit after my first charge.

Same bank backs Amazon's CC, got another $40 credit plus 2500 rewards points good for a $25 GC and maybe even a check. I wonder if I'm not obeying their "spirit", LOL. PS I just closed the first chase account.

I like to refill my own printer cartridges.

We have a bunch of "empty" HP 40's cartridges at work. It's almost fun to open them (sort of like opening a clam). There's a mylar bag inside and if you pierce the corner and drain it carefully, you get a teaspoon or two of good, high quality HP ink! Four cartridges later, I have half a small bottle of ink. This could be a new source of refill ink.

How's that for cheap?

I think we have a winner.

Seriously good stuff.

SBP ships a lot of packages. We are the masters of choosing the optimum USPS option for low cost and speed. We do use a LOT of the Priority flat rate boxes, which are provided for free and we have never once purchased any dunnage/packing material. Unfortunate we do buy some boxes, but we can live with that. It's the packaging tape that kills you (I did a post about, as I recall). BUT I finally hit the mother lode. ULINE Tape Sale........more than 1/2 off their already OK price...we backed up the truck.

Carry on.

I melted down some wax shavings from previous snowboard wax jobs - I have a good puck of of soy and paraffin wax with a little canola oil mixed in.

About six months ago I started using about half as much of the liquid laundry detergent as they recommend on the bottle, and have adjusted it downward even further as I notice that if I let the washing machine fill up with water first before putting in the clothes, it'll fill up with suds quite a bit, more than enough to clean the clothes even now that I'm at about 1/4 of the recommended dose. I think I'm going to be able to do an entire year's worth of laundry for about $10!

I'm using up every penny of that 1500 tax credit for energy star windows and doors.

Just put an energy star door on the front of the house, last year it was some windows.

This fall, some more windows.

Uncle Sam will pay for 30 percent of it.

Chlorine bleach works well and is cheap but you have to find one that doesn't contain sodium hydroxide. NaOH will change the alkalinity of your soil and it's not good for streams and rivers should it run off into water ways. Also if you use it on masonry (concrete, brick), it gets absorbed and can cause efflorescence.

I make it a point to leave ten minutes erlier (for work) than I usually do, and do the speed limit (60) the whole way there.

So far it seems good for another 2 mpg. It all adds up I guess.

Work place have free dinner budget for $12 if you eat in the cafeteria. Usually you can get $8 entry for grill station, $6 burrito, $6 pizza or some $2 pastry. I've been getting some pizza and burrito or grill entry and pastry to max it out, less cooking and more time for home.

I have drastically cut back on how much I eat. It kind of burns me since I am still attending many ''all you can eat'' fundraisers. I am considering getting a take out and making 2 meals of it. I also feel ripped off at the 2 meeting a month I attend where an all you can eat buffet is 11 Bucks.

Otherwise, I can't think of anything new to contribute to this thread.

I did find the senior citizens' discount was $5 less than the members' discount at the hotel for the convention we are attending this weekend. I did cough up some fantastic price for the Saturday evening banquet, but most of out meals will be at near by fast foods places. We may take Pop Tarts or pastry and coffee in out room for breakfast.

They want 12 bucks or something for in room internet, but have free wifi in public areas. We will take our note book and try for the free wifi.

We found somebody to keep our retired dog guide for free. The hotel forbids pets, or we would take him. Raven, our foster puppy has a service dog tag and should be OK.
