In 2005, an 83 year-old World War II pilot is surprised to see 16mm footage of his 1944 Spitfire crash for the first time.

Interestingly, they trained high school grads (non-coms) to fly "unarmed" planes, but NOT armed planes.

Spitfire 944

I thought this was going to be about a triumph spitfire with a 944 Porsche engine??? Car and WW2 YouTube videos are my top two interests, Nice video.

That was great. Tks! My dad jumped in Normandy on D Day. He always kept a piece of his parachute in his wallet. WW2 stories are getting scarce.
It's scary as now cold war pilots and people involved are starting to disappear. I feel like there's still stories we haven't heard. My grandfather was the youngest of alot of kids. His oldest brother was 12 plus years older than him and served under Patton in WW2. I would have loved to have heard more stories.
