I can't stand watching reruns that are sped up. TBS is the worst offender. Seinfield and the Big Bang Theory are unwatchable. Blue Bloods is sped up on WGN and is unwatchable.
I guess I could hack my Amazon Fire TV stick and find the unmolested shows I wanna watch.

I swear the music on regular radio is sped up, don't notice it on Sirius. I can notice it with music that I have the album and know it by heart (high school band dork here).

When I opened this thread I thought it was going to be about the recap shows like when the Street Outlaws: Full Throttle airs before Street Outlaws.

Or you could get the DVDs off ebay.

I bet someone made a lot of money to decide what percentage they could speed up the show without most people noticing

You'd win that bet.

For my part, I hate when they "edit for content to fit in the time allowed"....makes some movies incomprehensible.

I remember 35 years ago I measured how much of a program was commercials. I remember measuring 14 minutes of an hour program was commercial. I understand it is now up to 20 minutes.

I wonder what the limit is that they can impose on viewers before they decide TV is not worth watching anymore.

As a guy that worked in the TV business all his life I can assure you the vast majority are sped up to cram in one more commercials.

Its been done with analog gear for year, using dynamic tracking players.

It took us years to do it properly digitally with no jumping, and with audio pitch correction so they dont sound sped up.

Speeding us a sitcom is one thing- time compressing a symphony orchestra with proper pict correction took a while to figure out.

I used to record shows. In the 80s it was Magnum, PI. 42 minutes of show and 18 minutes of commercials.

In the 90s it was Friends. During a 1/2 hour show you were lucky to get more than 15-16 minutes of content.

You could get out from in front of the idiot box and actually do something constructive with your time, rather than watching reruns you can't stand and then griping about them.

Although I do appreciate you highlighting one more reason why I choose not to watch television.

Oh you are right! I was listing to Taylor Swifts "Style" on the radio one night, is was playing so fast it was comical. They ruin everything. I like to listen on YouTube now instead.

We gave up on network TV because of all the ads. We now buy the BARE minimum cable package just to get local news (we really cannot use an antenna here) and watch a lot of great ad-free programs on Netflix when we want to sit and enjoy a show. And the price of Netflix can't really be beat for what they offer!

They also chop pieces out of the episodes too. So many times I would watch an episode, just to find one of my favorite moments was completely removed from the episode.

Wow. I've never heard of such things. I'm glad a canceled cable so I don't have to pay for this nonsense.
