Spark Plugs And Vehicle Warranties

I don't like dealers just replacing one of. MIL had a bad shock on her Camry. They would only replace one not both.

I'm curious how this would be treated today. In June of 2006, my 2005 Caravan had 25,589 miles and began to stumble a bit when cold. The dealer replaced the plugs and wires under the 3/36 warranty.

Sort of like replacing only one totally bald tire. I'd love to go into that dealer and pull that one

Should spark plugs be covered in a new vehicle bumper to bumper warranty? You're not going to warranty filters etc in a 3/36 warranty but are spark plugs different in your opinion?

Recommend to read the terms, exclusions, and "fine print" within your policy.

I'm surprised they don't fall under the federal emissions warranty.

The old 5-50 emissions warranty varied among the manufacturers. Example, one manufacturer covered plug wires, and the next wouldn't.
When they started the 8-80 warranty in 1995, the covered items are clearly defined - only the Catalytic converter, and ECM, basically.
Warranty should cover a failed plug, if it's before the required interval, and still in warranty..
Warranty only covers "defective" parts, so only the one item that is defective would normally be covered, not sets of parts.

The tire manufacturer's warranty covers any defects in tires. That's where the dealer would probably send you.
That would really get you steaming!

I would have gave you the belt...

I would have put the old one back on and see if replacing the idler fixed the noise.
