spark plug price

Well, one is an online seller that does not own any warehouses or retail outlets, and they have regular auto parts distributors ship the parts to customers. Plus, they do not have too many employees.

The other (AAP) has many retail outlets, a fleet of vehicles for parts deliveries to commercial customers, lots of employees, utility bills and in house stock.

I priced out
spark plug wires(generic brand but not the cheapest) A/C Deco were 3 times the price.
Cap & Rotor A/C Delco
Rapid fire plugs A/C Delco
Advanced auto 138.22 with tax
Rock Auto $101.23 with shipping
So I'm wondering if buying from Rock auto to save $37 is worth it?

whats the shipping from rock.

so you save 18$ wait 4 days and pay 10 in shipping?
What if you get fake parts from rockauto?
1) Most people rarely buy a set of plugs or other lower priced items and not anything else in the same order. If you add something being shipped from the same warehouse, the additional shipping is often minimal or nothing more. And I often get parts in 2 days from Rock.

2) What if you get fake parts from a local place?

where does your rock auto parts come from.. HINT: Its not a rockauto warehouse

yes it is much more likely on ebay or amazon to get a fake part.
it's RA warehouse out of Sugarland, TX, 1/4 of the time. Good plugs so far, ordered various plugs several times. No issues.

Correct, they are very often large, independent warehouses that sell parts wholesale to repair professionals and independent and company owned parts stores.
I was making a sales call at one which is part of a large group of warehouses with common ownership. I went out to the shipping/receiving area to visit with a neighbor who works there. I saw one of those big rolling bins filled with packages wrapped with that Rock Auto tape. My neighbor said that was a typical daily Rock Auto shipment.

I think that $37 is a savings worth using RA. Under $20 I will just buy local and figure my time was saved and that's worth the money.

I use RA for 85% of my parts and always save even with the shipping cost and I can wait 2-4 days. I give my customers 2 options: save X amount of money thru RA and wait or have parts locally and pay X amount more - they usually all wait because the savings can be substantial.

Rock Auto’s secret is a powerful parts searching software coupled with accurate inventory of third part vendors. Yes, they do charge for shipping and no, they aren't useful if you need the part this afternoon. There are lots of folks who use their software to search a part and then buy if off Amazon. There are also people who return used motor oil to Walmart.

Rapid fires are no big deal, not any better than regular AC and don't last like Iridium. Tested them years ago in my '99 5.7 Yukon.
RA is my go to for parts, I can have one vehicle down for days though without it being inconvenient.
Quality choice and even with shipping they beat the box stores by a lot. Plus no box store "lifetime'' parts that you spend a lifetime changing.

Platinum plug for $3 at Rock.
I drive about 60 miles a week, any old plug will last a long time for me.

I keep buying spark plugs from RA ever since I discovered them, bought a handful of sets and never had an issue. Very happy with their selection, availability and pricing. You will save if you buy other parts at the same time - e.g. oil and air filters etc as long as they ship from same warehouse 'code' so pay attention to A, B, C codes when you select and place parts in cart.

Amazon has sold me bogus NGK plugs 4 times; not sure. Never again.
I got highly suspect AC Delco plugs from Amazon. By the time I got around to installing them, they didn't look genuine, it was past 30 days for return, and the company that sold them to me was out of business...no doubt still selling counterfit products on Amazon under a new name.
