Perusing the app I came across a rollback I could not refuse.
Decathlon Rockrider ST100, 21 Speed Mountain Bike, 27.5", Unisex, Red, Extra Large https://www.walmart.com/ip/211706952
Little known brand but pulled the trigger. $98! Now it is $198, the other day it was almost $400. Frame is surprising quality,

BTWIN branded derailleur is surprisingly accurate for this entry level bike.

Double wall rims run true

Actually has a cartridge BB

Bike was factory set ready to ride, I just had to make a few fine adjustments to the front brakes and the threadless headset/stem. Put about 10 miles on it, surprisingly nimble and efficient.

Very pleased with this beater

I don't think any of the mass-market, Chinese-built bikes can even be called by a "brand" anymore. It's just a marketing thing today. Even the well-known brands from the past - Mongoose, Huffy, Schwinn, etc - have been re-used but have no connection to the old companies.

Walmart bikes are sort of opposite usual logic. The more they cost, the worse they are.

$98

My expectations have been met, and then some.

It has a Joytech one piece rear hub with a Shimano freewheel.

The frame is sturdy and aesthetically pleasing, worthy of periodic upgrades as needed.

PS the only "Mountain Biking" this bike will ever see is a forest trail

Congrats on your great deal.

Happened to me with running boards for my previous truck from Amazon. Had watched them for weeks at between $150-$170. Came home from work and had a alert from a shopping service that they were on special for <$60. Same boards, triple checked the part number on DeeZee's website and it was identical. Ordered immediately. Arrived in two days . Were still great looking when I traded the truck. Always very sturdy. Truly got more than I paid for.

Over 50 miles on the bike. Checking bolts every day, looking good. I noticed many reviewers stating the pedals fell off LOL. They probably used the supplied wrench that cannot torque it adequately, I initially used it and then finished it off with a 15mm wrench better suited for the task.

Chain is a name brand, glad to see.
