I know a few places online have started selling it. I still hadnt seen it in person anywhere. I think Oreilly's carries it in their warehouses but doesn't show it in the stores. RP stuff is usually available upon request. Hopefully, we'll see someone try this and see if this will be another good choice for those Euro users out there.

My friend has a case of it for his Audi V6 30v. I don't see the point of running it, especially in summer. What one expects to gain over the myriad of otc 5w-40s is a mystery to me.

There are other aspects to consider. I use RP 5w20 even though there are a myriad of other 5w20s out there. I like to support RP because they are a small american oil maker located in texas. I like supporting american made products.

That's not a reason, it's an excuse.

Sorry, I dont follow. I bought my Mazda6 because it was made in detroit. I bought my Ford Escape because it was made in KC. How is trying to support a specific location not a reason? With what you are saying, there are no reasons to buy anything. Only excuses.

The point, as I see it, is that a reason to buy something would be due to performance, price, value, etc. Buying something simply b/c it's made in a particular region irregardless of performance, price, etc. isn't a reason for buying it. Basically, if there is no real thought to the purchase, it wasn't bought for a reason. For example, say that my father-in-law doesn't take care of his string trimmer hoping that it will take out so he can buy a new one, that's an excuse and not a reason for purchase.
There are other cars made in the US, so what was the reason for purchasing the Escape & Mazda6?

If you really want to purchase oil made in the USA, buy Brad Penn. I really doubt the oil is all from the USA when purchasing RP.

The people at RP are a good group. They blend good products. I would almost certainly choose their stuff over Mobil 1. Same situation exists with Red Line and Amsoil. If you want to be fashion correct then maybe it's Mobil 1, but these others are good choices. The trick with 5w-40 is to avoid shearing if you really need a 40w oil. There must be something to this shearing problem because 15w40 is a very popular viscosity. I can't imagine running something like Mobil 1 0w-40 if you really need a 40w oil. It will be interesting to see a couple of uoa's on the new RP 5w-40.

The fact that RP is an american product made in Texas is only a bonus to the benefits the oil itself provides. I believe that's the point badtlc was trying to make.

RP is the forum favourite at clubRSX.com. The readership has not a single clue about lubes. Go check it out man, it's totally kewl.
