Got a bunch of stuff for free when cleaning up an abandoned office that my father in law got contracted to do (he's a computer recycler). I found a few things that I am planning on upgrading my home with:
1. 2 x PATA hard drives -> I have some SATA to PATA adapter and I'll use my motherboard's raid feature to raid 0 them together. These are 7200.7 with low hours and I trust them more than the newer drives out there.
2. 1 19" analog only LCD with 1280x1024 resolution. I have a 19" Samsung CRT that I really love, and my dad has a 19" LCD with DVI. I think I'll trade my CRT with him and use dual LCD at home. He has no use of dual monitor and lots of desk space, I can reclaim some desk space and can do a lot with the 2 LCD.
3. Linksys Wireless N access point. Found out that it is a not so famous chipset but it is business class. Does not support open source firmware but seems to be worth something, I guess I'll ebay it.
4. Tivo Series 2: law of investment banking said if the parts are worth more than the whole, break it apart and sell the individual parts. I'll sell the remote, IR blaster, power supply board, USB ethernet adapter separately, and scrap the chassis and the mother board. Not sure about the 20GB hard drive...
