Some Hydraulic Fluid Specs-Whaddya Think?

Got these via Case IH from the Viscosity Website. They have a data base of most THF fluids there, but since I don't know who makes the Napa and TSC fluid, I can't look them up. I THINK Spcialty Oil makes the stuff for Wal Mart. What do you think? The VI looks pretty low on the Specialty stuff. What grade is "AW46"? Why do the other two have Zinc while the Hy-Trans have none?

Tractor fluids meet certian guidelines to a lot of things, VI, Vis at 40,100,additive system, Pour point chatter tests, gear wear tests. etc.
most test requiremnts are set out by the MFG of the equipment BUT there are many additive suppliers that meet the specs and they may do it in differnt ways Oronite uses Boron, Lubrizol may use Zinc so a test of oils will not tell anything other than a baseline for future used oil analysis.

Use a repitable Major oil brand and be happy if it says it meets the spec for you equipment it will work. Since I think all THF's are made buy independants or majors and RE packed into IHC or DEERE or MASSEY cans the Tractor guys do not make there own.

If you go to our website and click on the "Viscosity Table" link on the left side you'll see that this AW46 is simply an Anti-Wear fluid of ISO 46 viscosity (ISO in Teal color) and at 100 C temp the viscosity can range from approx. 5.75 to 7.75 cSt @ 100 C. This corresponds to an SAE weight of 20 (Dark Green).
