I have always liked rock music. I was listening to some more recent Metallica stuff last night. Had never heard "The unforgiven 2" or "the unforgiven 3" either. Great songs. I always liked STAIND and DISTURBED and PANTERA

Modern Rock is not radio friendly. They rather promote old geezers who were relevant 30 years ago.

On that topic, Metallica's Black Album (self-titled album) was pretty good. But perhaps you already have heard that album.

Couple of my favorite modern alternative/rock bands these days are Shaman's Harvest (many good tunes, Soul Crusher, Off The Tracks, Blood Trophies, Silent Voice) and Highly Suspect. Band called Great Van Fleet has a song called Highway Tune that violently throws (in an awesome way) me to Robert Plant and the rest of Zeppelin.

I'm 19 and hate modern rock music. I couldn't tell you one song that came out in 2017, don't pay any attention. I got a stack of vinyl from the 60s-80s id rather listen to.

Coheed and Cambrias first 4 or 5 albums were really good, although those are at least 12-15 years old by now. I really dont think there is anything new worth mentioning thats new, and unfortunately we wouldnt hear most of it anyway. Im supposedly in the largest listening audience in the world and we dont have any type of outlet for new rock or similar. Its about 15 stations with the same stuff.

Black album was the best I heard in a while. That was before Metallica cut their hair

Heard of Great Van Fleet, I'll search some of their stuff. Thanks Redhat

I am drawing a huge blank when asked about modern rock songs, sadly.

I still listen to some older stuff from 30 Seconds to Mars, Porcupine Tree, Guano Apes, and the like.

Volbeat and Ghost are more "modern day" kind of "Rock".

Greta Van Fleet, Halestorm, Highly Suspect, I Prevail, are all good.

Lots of good stuff still coming from 3 Days Grace and Shinedown.

You're going to be alright. Keep on!

Huge Metallica fan. Hardwired...To Self Destruct is really good. Recently wearing out Tool's "The Holy Gift" and others. Also Chevelle, Foo Fighters.

five finger death punch

most of their songs don't really fit mainstream rock criteria IMO.

Glorious Sons SOS=great turn it up and sing along rock.
Great Van Fleet does sound a lot like Zeppelin.
I usually listen to NPR but I do occasionally tune in a rock station.

I use to listen to nothing but classic rock but the radio stations got so bad around here playing the same stuff over and over along with constantly playing Led Zeppelin and AC/DC like they are breaking new ground I just can't stand it anymore. I do realise there isn't an new classic rock but they just vomit that same 10 songs at you day after day.
