Some Fram Air Filters

Are some Fram air filters made by fram? For example air filters for a MDX and Tundra don't look like plain Fram filters. Some filters by fram look top notch while others don't.

P.S. and some dont have the orange border.

The Fram filter for my 2007 Hyundai Accent says "Made in Korea". It is absolutely identical to the oem filter I pulled out. So, either Fram manufactures filters for Hyundai in Korea, or Fram just purchases and rebrands some oem filters for certain vehicles.

The fram filter for my '02 Honda was absolutely identical to the Bosch right down to the numbering system on the side. I haven't looked enough at comparing filters for my current vehicles to know where fram stands.

This is intresting, I'm guessing some of Fram's air filters are made by different companies but branded as a Fram filter.

No single filter company air or oil, makes a complete catalog lineup. All the major makers cross brand for each other to fill the small holes in their catalog lineup. I have pulled out WIX boxed air filters that were Frams and Fram boxed filters that were Purolators.

Can someone tell me who makes the 2002 MDX filters for Fram?
On the filter it says made in Isreal.

Most of the filter companys trade or rebadge some of their filters for the other suppliers.

I remember once a local Baldwin dealer had ordered a few oil filters for my freinds new (back then) modular Ford V8.
He told him it would be #B1435.
He had been using a more expensive oem Motorcraft.
The dealer quoted only 25% the cost of the motorcraft.

He got his filters , opened the box and WHAALAA!
What was in the Baldwin box but new Motorcraft FL2008's!
(pretty sure of part number?)
And he got them at 25% the cost from Ford.

Sounded like a good score to me!

Theres a bunch of air and fuel filter made by Purolator in Isreal....

so it would not surprise me if FRAM contracted out their MDX air filter to Purolator.

Are purolator air filters any good? And if you were to compare the OEM filter to it, will it be just as good?

Purolator air filters are VERY high quality.

I see no reason why an aftermarket air filter (Fram, Purolator, STP, Wix...etc) could not be as good as the OEM.

The Fram I just put in my Forester was made in Canada, and looked like your regular orange Fram. The OEM that came out looked much better constructed, but I hear the Frams do a great filtering job. One thing I did like about the Fram was the metal grill on the intake side. The OEM did not have that.
