Hi there,

Anyone here could recommend a soil test facility where I can send my soil sample? It is in my understanding that would cost for about $35 to $50 per test.
Thanks

Texas Dept. of Agriculture, or they may have some links on their site.
Call a local garden shop. They may know also.

Do you have a County Agent ? Nurseries usually have sample containers with information on where to send them .

Thanks, I called the Dept and they inquired me to Texas A&M University AgriLife Extenstion. For yhose of you from Texas this is the lab for soil testing.

I inquired at Texas A&M AgriLife Extention and was told to fill up a form online, make a payment of $12 (pH analysis) and send the soil to their address,

To test pH of soil at home, mix a 50/50, by weight, soil and distilled water sample, I use 50 grams to make it easy to remember. Then your strips or pen or colors.

When I worked for an agrochemical company in the early 1990s, we had a 10/10/10 procedure for testing soil pH - 10 grams soil, 10 grams (or mL) of water, and stir for 10 minutes then stick either a pH probe into the mixture or a pH strip.

Why only do pH and not a complete soil test? It's should still be below $20. Then, you will have a more complete picture of soil health.
Most soil testing results are included on the analysis:
(pH, NO3-N,Conectivity and Mehlich III by ICP P, K, Ca,Mg, Na and S)
