So we're all buying Toyotas now 🤔

The OP. Didn't he say he had to trailer the car home because he didn't have plates for it?

Just had it washed, so shiny 🧽

Man, 1 year flys when you're having fun
Still trucking along, burning 1qt of Mobil 1 0w40 every 2000-2500 miles
Current mileage

I swapped in an eBay drivers door glass, and mirror because the scratches irritated me in the dark

Also, screw no name door clips, if it's not genuine/Auveco I don't want them, they suck

Clipsandfasteners has proven a good supplier to me
One of these days, I'll update the spreadsheet and we can finally review the total costs 🫣

Place your bets on it's eventual demise
Kick a rod through the block or the transmission letting go 🤷‍♂️

I bet on something unrelated to its mechanicals. Something like a car accident has much higher chances of taking it out of service. Long live xB2.

WHoever made that law should be shot
Come to Houston where owning a plate is optional since HPD doesn't give a **** about it.

If you see a beat up Honda Accord then there is a 99% chance it's running a fake paper plate that expired 6 years ago and it's barely legible. God how I hate this state.

Wow, 2 years just flew by 😅
Still trucking along, it's a spare house car, my dad uses it for errands he can't do in his work van
If you ignore the hood 🫠, it looks passable

I want that 300k sticker so bad 😬
I just swapped in this auto up/down all around switch in, it's so deluxe 🤗
They sent the wrong color, but nothing is perfect in life 🤷‍♂️

Tasteful remote start and OE key blanks, because I'm strict like that

As for the main topic of oil consumption...
I put Total 5w40 and 1qt of HPL Engine Cleaner 30 in it back in August
1,450 miles later, it's used very little to none
I'm calling that a success for an engine at this stage in it's life

The tires are meh, rear wheel bearings are a little noisy, and I still need to address the front donut seal exhaust leak
But it continues to put in the work, and I will continue to drive on 🚗

I can wholeheartedly attest to using Berryman/Kroil piston soak + idle flushes and HPL Engine Cleaner as a valid method for oil control ring related oil consumption
But you knew that already 🫡

Our 2008 xB (color twin of yours) is just a little over 60k miles behind yours. Gave it a refresh recently, still on jackstands though. But threw in new:
- rear shocks
- front struts
- outer tie rods
- lower control arms
- ball joints
- sway bar end links
- brake pads with drilled/slotted rotors all around.
- Did have to remove transmission pan to remove one lower control bolt, so threw in a new transmission filter for that automatic.
- refreshed the hazy headlights, put in LEDs and aligned.

Currently waiting on day off to install a driver side caliper assembly, and a passenger side CV axle. Once that's installed, hopefully we can get it off jack stands and enjoy the fruits of this mini overhaul until 300k milestone, or more.

Go Scion!!!

Still got some to go, but eventually will catch up to you. Tried to catch a picture at 236236, but got distracted by a phone call, so this will have to do.

- My retro daily (1991 Accord wagon) got totaled by 5AM deer, so I picked up the family spare car to fulfil my daily commuter needs for now. 2009 Scion xB. Dad drives his Tundra more lately, so I'm gonna keep the Scion alive.
- It has been sitting for couple months, so alternator died. Thankfully quite easy to swap.
- With all new suspension it handles a lot better than before. Is a little bouncy on new front springs, but very stable in turns, or highway, or spirited drives.
- Gave it a much needed wash.

- Passenger side CV axle is slinging grease, but is quiet. While Driver's side CV axle looks great, but is starting to click on left-hand turns.
- "Rubber band" tires likely won't stick around much longer. Dad says he wants some ride height, so while swapping both CV axles I'll likely give it a small lift kit. Which should make good space for beefier (and softer) tires. Like this guy:

Jk, not quite beefy. But likely something along the lines of "Rallycross friendly". Maybe even throw on some mud flaps to complete the look...
Otherwise - it keeps on rolling. Hopefully for a long time.
