I would like to find a good 2 tone pair of horns that are loud and sound good. Not needed very often, but it would be nice to have something other than a [censored] sounding one tone horn, that would grab the needed attention, or just say hi.

Fiamm El Grande horns work well for scaring wildlife and getting texters going at lights. Wire them up with a relay so they have the power they deserve.

Pull a pair off a newer Toyota at a junkyard. The dual tone horns on my 01 Tundra sounds way better than the tinny plate horns on my 02 Chevy truck.

I second the Fiamm option. Turns out both my SRT and wife's JGC have Fiamm horns as OEM, and they're a nice bright 2-tone sound.

What I don't understand and have never understood are those ridiculous little "buzzer" sounding horns that Japanese cars usually have. What the heck? I mean if you live in Paris and need to politely beep at bicyclists, yeah, that's what you want. But in the North American market horns need to be heard inside air-conditioned sound-deadened cars with the stereo on.

'80's GM horns are pretty loud, My '85 Suburban is twice as loud as the Toyota & '06 Chevy.

As far as a relay, I don't recall a vehicle not using a relay for horns?

I took the high pitched horn out of my Jeep so now it sounds like a boat.

+1. I think Hella makes some as well.

My car has one heck-of a horn. Nice and loud. The 2013 Beetle's horn is really quiet and wimpy. I don't think other cars can here it

Had to replace my apologetic Corolla horn, I was getting cut off (happens) and totally ignored when I beep (shouldn't happen).

Went with PIAA 85115, two horns in one package 330Hz and 400Hz. Face them down to prevent water retention, and put them on a relay with their own fuse and a backwards diode to drain any feedback, since horns are essentially electric motors.

Now drivers actually hear me beeping and react according (for better or worse).

Hella or Fiamm. Everything else that I have seen is made in China and loses its loudness over time.

My Chevy truck horn sounds like a sick goose. It's actually embarrassing. The Challenger has a nice horn. I never use it (except when people are asleep at the light).
