Snow King 9hp snowblower oil change

I put a space heater blowing at the engine and remove the spark plug and warm that up for a difficult cold start. BBQ lighter on the sparkplug tip for a minute, install quickly and fire it up.
possum328, easy starting at -30F is a tall order.
You'll probably get good, if not great, service from the Mobil 1 0W-40. However, between now and next oil change, I'd research 0w30 oils to see which has the lowest pour point.
Valvoline MaxLife Next-Gen is a bit of a synthetic blend (some Group V, I believe) with decent cold flow properties. To significantly improve on its performance in punishing cold, you'll want to carefully choose a successor by looking at specs on product data sheets.

I have seen people use dip stick oil heaters on snowblowers the plug in kind. Seems to be a good idea I guess? Just plug it in a day before the storm to heat your oil.

I am using Rotella T6 5w-40 synthetic in my 17yr old snowblower, 8hp Tech. It is kept in an unheated shed. It takes a few pulls at -20, as any oil would especially if you are using the pull rope. It is just plain COLD here and things do not want to operate like they should, unless in a heated building. I have an attached uninsulated garage that stays around 10-15 above even when it is -25. A heat gun works well to warm things up quickly also.

I've got MLNG 10w30 in my 5hp Tecumseh, and have no problem pull starting it in our current -15° weather. I've always got the electric start as a backup plan if I dislocate my shoulder or something.

I use Mobil 1 Advanced Fuel Economy 0w30 in my 5 HP Tecumseh. I use the electric start for the first start, I'm lazy. The Mobil 1 Advanced Fuel Economy 0w30 works very well IMO. I like your back up plan.
