K KJA426 Joined Jul 9, 2004 Messages 651 Location Punxsutawney, PA. Jan 20, 2006 #2 HM is typically thicker at 100*C than an SM oil. A 10w30 HM is about 12 at 100*C while an SM is around 10. I think the HMs may have a higher level of additives also.
