Just got the car in Jan, and changed the oil to 0w30 GC, will be doing one, but I want 1700miles more. Also added autorx

All right finally got the radiator today...and I started to take things off to make things easier for Tuesday morning at 5am. But then I just ended up doing it from 9pm-1030pm. Drove the car around, but it was pretty cool outside..so I won't be able to test the car till this THURS, hopefully it will be somewhat hot, but i heard its going to be like 70C and maybe showers...so it wont be a true test.

Here is a link to the pictures of the oil radiator as I said it was in nasty condition.

Sorry for some of the out of focus pics, but you get the point.

70°C man your nuts would be roasted....

That old rad looks not so good....it could have been leakin'....

Keep us posted! If you're like me, and the rad solves the over heating issue, you'll as happy as a clown

Pablo, haha sorry 70F, yea 70C would be a bit on the roasty toasty side.

Actually the old one wasnt leaking at all, during all this over heating I didnt see any drop of coolant. The old one is a copper/brass radiator and so is the new one...which is another discussion. Personally I think copper ones last longer, aluminum/plastic seems to go at about 10yrs with regular maintenance (speaking for japanese cars).

Yea I will be happy if its it, wish the weather will be hotter no thurs to really test it out.

Let everyone know soon.

Well notice that just running around 10mi trips, that the engine temp is much cooler than it has ever been since I got it in January. Normally when the engine is warmed up on the highway it stays 1small tick mark under the midline, now its almost touching 2 small tick marks under the midline. At least it tells me that its cooling more, still need to make the real test when it gets warmer and drive to SJ which is like 106miles one way and uphill parts.

a dual-core del sol vtec raditor is an upgrade for this car. it mounts in the same location as the stock one, but you may need the b-series radiator hoses. itll keep your engine cooler as i saw lower temps on my dohc motor compared to the single core stock radiator. it costs $99 at some autozones while other autozones sells it for $240 , part #432352.

climed some hills, but its not hot enough yet as it was like 2-3weeks ago. Though I think it will fix it since thermostat is new, waterpump has like 40K on it and is not malfunctioning, no loss of coolant. Again..gotta wait till it hits like 85 around here again.

I agree the dual core will help a lot, got mine for $65 shipped. I changed the hoses too.

all right thurs is expected to be like 81 or so, pretty much the same conditions when it did started heating up last time. Will find out thurs if the radiator is it.

Getting in on this a little late, but the symptoms described are classic for a plugged radiator. My '87 Legend began to act the same way two years ago. New radiator cured the problem.

Now I'm not one to believe everything I read, especially when a manufacturer starts blowing its own horn, but in this case I'm inclined to believe it when Honda recommends using Honda coolant.

All that white scale inside the radiator is most likely the silicates plugging the radiator tubes.

I'm slowly changing over all my vehicles to Honda coolant.

paulo, yea i heard about that too..to use honda coolant so that the bearings on the waterpump will alst longer and the radiator wont scale up as bad. Though I wonder if this only applies to people that dont change their coolant frequently. Think there has been some debate on that. The Honda coolant is pretty darn expensive, another solution is to use toyota coolant which says they contain no silicates. Seems like most radiators last about 10years from my experience, and this is with people that occasionaly drain refill their radiators (every 3yrs or so).
