2011 Silverado LTZ. Driver's heated seat comes on any time I turn it on, but sometimes turns off within a minute or so. Other times it stays on until I turn it off, as it's suppose to. Passenger side heated seat works as it should. What could cause this? Relay maybe? Is there a separate one for each seat? Colder weather approaching and would like to fix it.

Check the fuse block diagrams in the owner's manual to see if it has relays for each seat. I would think heaters would have too high of a power draw to be BCM switched directly.

Back when I had my 1986 Merkur, yes, heated seats, a common failure was the thermostat. These are typically buried in the seat cushions to prevent toasted buns. I had to replace one on the drivers side to get it working correctly.
They were the usual button looking things back then, but they may use some other sensor these days.

Yours may be intermittent.

Probably need to probe the power lines to the seat heater to be sure, this would tell you whether it’s the t-stat in the element or something further upstream.

These don’t pull as many amps as we make them out to. I’d guess 6A tops per side on high.
