I'm currently going through the almost 500 pages of this section gathering information to get me a decent filter. So far I'm liking the AAP. It is liked by BITOG, good price, grip surface and the most important of MY criteria.. is not a Fram. I dislike them since a gasket was leftover and caused me some problems and then I see here that 'Fram sucks' is more common than I thought.
As for my needs, got a 87 RX7 and it came factory with an oil cooler. I'll do 2 changes a year which will be well under 5k so longevity isn't so neccessary. I'd lean towards better flow than filtration since I won't be doing extended drains.
So, the Total Grip is doing good and while I have no problem staying with it I'd just like to try some other filters out there and just "SEE" if I can tell a difference in how my engine spins.
And while I've learned alot here I'm still below the curve and will probably go to the grave that way since ya'll are engineers and meticulous mechanics. Well, I've gone on long enough, but my thoughts are that a silicone ADBV is better (obviously) but is only better and more durable during extended drains.
Does it seal better, last longer or what?
Thanks for any help!
Oh yeah, here is something I found while reading here if ya'll haven't seen it yet. Trying to learn, ya know!
