I just had some rust repaired on my Liberty by the third brake light - got new metal put in and repainted. The shop got a new brake light OEM from Jeep with new weatherstripping and mentioned he thought that's where water got in before and caused the rust. He said I should add a bead some sealant around the brake light to help, but said to make sure it's body shop safe. Does this even matter at this point since it's fixed? If it does, does anyone have a recommendation for a non-silicone one? Thanks!

Flex Seal in the tube should would be perfect for this application. Pricey but a very good sealant. Regards

I use this stuff for stuff like this.
It stays flexible in almost all temps and does not separate from metal or plastic nor does it shrink like silicone does.

I have also used butyl tape (similar to the stuff above) for the same reasons.

Is it removeable? Just thinking about when I have to swap the bulb out.
