Side mirror glue

I found the mirror element in one of the side mirrors on the concrete in the driveway one morning, I guess age and heat did a number on the adhesive (97 Maxima).
Did anyone else have to deal with something like this? What adhesive did you use?

That happened to my Saab passenger mirror.. I think it got a liberal treatment of Gorilla Glue. Stayed secured even after a pretty hard rear ender. Probably still on in some pick-n-pull.

I would just buy an entire assembly. If you don't have heated mirrors, you might be able to upgrade to heated mirrors if the car is pre-wired for them

Loctite makes this construction adhesive that grabs immediately and is super strong. Home Depot sells it, in a caulk-style tube. I used it to hang foam panels on my cellar walls and ceiling. I believe it works on almost any surface or material.

3M 5200 is my go-to for critical bonding that I am sure I won't ever need to disassemble. Slow cure, needs some moisture, but a very strong bond.

When I got a replacement mirror glass for my 96 Windstar, it came with some double-sided adhesive disks, maybe an inch diameter each. They were very effective.

This has been my experience as well and I'm a huge advocate of these replacement glass pieces provided the rest of the mirror assy is in good condition. Sometimes you can repair a mirror for ~$10 and they look great (usually).

That said, in some cases you can get a "fun house" effect and heating options are unlikely to work as well. But for older cars it's a fantastic way to make it functional and look good for very minimal investment.

The Windstar didn't have heated mirrors. The glass just fell out one day. Stuck the new one on in maybe a minute.
