Should I go 3x (16,500 mi) on the EAO?

I'm going to change the ACD in a month or so. Already have a new EAO sitting here as I did at the last interval. I'm doing about 5,500 miles on an OCI. Reusing the filter once didn't bother me but going a second time has me a little nervous. Any opinions?

You should be good to go. Will you do UOAs to see how the filter is performing?

I'd have no problem going 4 turns under that time frame (about 22+k/year). Now the under 10k works too, but you're not getting as much out of it.

Definately. I know a UOA isn't cost effective for my intervals but I'm doing one for my own curiosity.

Well that settles it. One more interval it is with a UOA to follow. Since the girlfriend has been driving my car more than I have, I should be following the severe service interval... It will be a test of Amsoil for sure.

Actually your warranty is voided if you don't change the filter when you change the oil, doesn't matter how many miles or how long you have had it on. Amsoil says you NEED to change the oil filter every time you change the oil.

I wish I had a warranty. Just hit 60K. I haven't looked at what Amsoil says but I'm only doing 5,500 miles on an oil change. I could understand changing the filter at every change if I were pushing it the full 25,000 that the ACD can supposedly go.

That doesn't reason at all. How could they void the warranty for not changing the filter within its advertised usage limit ..using one of Amsoil's oils ..that you're not using to its limit.

It's like saying your trans warranty is no good because you changed the engine out every 10k whether it needed it or not.

The warranty assumes MAX usage. That is, ONE YEAR or the limits of the oil in question. If you did 25k a year and used SSO and an EaO and decided to change out the SSO @ 12.5k ...there's no reason why your oil or filter warranty would be altered.

AMSOIL Ea Oil Filters are guaranteed for 25,000 miles or one year, whichever comes first, when used in conjunction with AMSOIL Synthetic Motor Oil. AMSOIL recommends changing the oil filter at the time of oil change.

If used in conjunction with AMSOIL Motor Oil that is being changed at intervals less than 25,000 miles, the EaO Filter should be changed at the same time. AMSOIL EaO Filters are not guaranteed for 25,000 miles when used with any oil other than AMSOIL Motor Oil and should be changed according to vehicle OEM recommendations."

above from amoil web. It reads to me that the EA is good for 25k or 1 year. It is only a recommended charge every oci.

Using Pennzoil 5w30 conventional and an EaO-09 on my 08 Corolla. For warranty purposes, going to drain at 5k/6 months, but will be running the Ea0 three intervals for 15k total (which is the max mileage this car will see in a year anyway) One Ea0 filter per year just makes sense for superior filtration and saving money.

Yes, and I've read it a few times. It assumes that the oil needs changing. That is, if you're under the severe duty (reduced mileage) that you ditch the filter too since it too is under severe duty. It would be idiotic to tell someone who's swapping out SSO every 5k under normal conditions that his Eao can't make it to 20k. Granted it I would also question the wisdom of changing out SSO every 5k ..but

I don't remember where I read it but Amsoil tested the EAO out to 50,000 miles and it was still good. Surely, 16,500 miles would be a breeze. I have used an EAO20 out to 9,000 miles with absolutely no problems, UOA's came back excellent. I will go for a fourth interval next time and post my impressions as well as the UOA's.
