Daughter’s 2007 Honda Civic with about 68,000 miles. She purchased it used at about 52,000 miles. It had regular but unknown oil/filter changes up to about the 52,000 mile mark. I have been giving it PYB 5W20 with a Purolator Classic at intervals based on the oil monitor. Should I do a cleaning cycle on the next oil change with something like PP? Or just stick with PYB? Something else? What do you think I should have as my regular oil and filter combo for this vehicle? Thanks for your advice.

My guess is that PYB is doing all the cleaning (if any) that an engine of that vintage and mileage needs.

If PYB is working for you, keep using it.

Since it had regular oil changes during the 52k prior to your daughter's ownership, you're doing everything you need to.

A robust dino with a decent filter changed according to the OLM is a winning combination.

If there aren't any issues that you are aware of I wouldn't bother. You have a winning combo right now. No need to switch it up.

Do you have any specific concerns?

I would run a couple of back to back PEA cleaners in any used car and clean the throttle body. You have no idea what fuel was used and how much carbon has built up.

I hope the PBY 5w/20 is good enough. Because that is what I am about to start using on a newer version of the OP's vehicle. After warranty, I will start using synthetic's and try to get to 10k OCI's. But right now, I am just going for 5k OCI's with the top of the line conventional PYB.

To the OP, if you have already done a couple of OC's with PYB. I would say the engine is already cleaned up. Our engines are not that hard on oil. With the mileage you stated, I would look into exchanging the fluid on the trans if it has not already been done. It is super easy for us. 3 drain and fills and no trans pan to deal with.

Thanks for all your responses. I guess I'll stick with PYB. Even if there was a difference with PP, I don't think she would notice the difference. I've been adding Techron about 6 weeks before oil changes so hopefully things are in good shape. Thanks again - I've learned a lot from the collective wisdom of this board.
