This is on my 02 Mustang GT with (factory) gold color coolant. car has 9K miles and about 4 years old..How important is the time interval on coolant changes?? thanks

That would be Ford's version of G-05. There probably isn't anything wrong with your coolant. Nevertheless, if it was my car, I'd still be looking to go ahead and change it out as a prophylactic measure. (It gets hot in much of Nevada.

) Zerex G-05 from Pep Boys will be every bit as effective as stealership-supplied Motorcraft Premium Gold for about $5.00 less per gallon.

Check your Owner's Manual (or maybe its in a separate maintenance schedule booklet) on the miles/time limit for coolant change. I have an 03 Ranger and the manual or maintenance schedule says to change the G-05 type gold-colored coolant after 4 years or a certain number of miles (I can't remember how many miles, but its at least 40,000).
