Just in case shotgun shooters who reload haven't noticed, several companies that are selling shot today, are pulling the same stunt the food industry has caught on to. They are BOTH reducing the amount of the product, AS WELL AS RAISING THE PRICE.

For example, Ballistic Products is pulling this stunt with a lot of the shot they are selling. The price doesn't seem too bad for today's market, (right around $50.00 @ bag plus tax and shipping).

But they're only giving you a 22 POUND BAG.... Not the standard 25 pounds that shot has always been sold at since the dawn of time. I've been reloading shotshells since 1972. And I can't begin to count the bags of shot I've gone through in that time..... Every single one has been a 25 pound bag. (80 bags to the ton).

Now you have to be on the alert. Figure the price per pound, and it's no "deal" at all. This is happening all over in the food industry as well. They are making it difficult to comparatively shop, because they are reducing portions, while at the same time raising the price.

They've done this with powder as well. Some companies are not selling it by the pound any longer, and have gone to 14 ounce containers. It's a free country, and it's their business to run as they please. But it's hard to argue that this is nothing but deception.

Good to know! I reload for rifle and was considering getting into reloading for my shotguns.

I should note the exception to this is steel shot. I don't reload steel, but because it's less dense than lead, the standard for it's packaging is usually 10 pound bags.
