My guess is TTI doesn't make them but Emerson sent production to Chinavv

TTI owns some vacuum companies, but I don't think Ridgid is one of them.

Emerson owns Ridgid, they do not produce them. All of that has been outsourced. TTI definitely produces most Ridgid products aside from the commercial plumbing equipment, which is manufactured by Ridge Tool. Some things are also outsourced to Chervon, who is no better than TTI (in fact, arguably worse, as least when it comes to repairs).

I worked for an authorized Ridgid warranty service center. TTI was my main contact for almost everything except plumbing tools and saws made by Chervon. Basically anything else definitely came from TTI. Their office in SC routinely (as in daily) sent me replacement drills, saws, sanders, etc. If Emerson actually made all of that themselves, they would not be able to offer it in Home Depot for nearly as cheap as they do.

The warranty procedure for vacs was simply to replace if there was a defect covered by warranty. Repair parts were not offered for those, and in fact the stores were just supposed to return them to the vendor themselves and not even send them to an authorized repair center. We tossed them in the trash if they showed up at our service center and the store didn't want them back. I used one half-dead one to keep the area around my desk and my cabinets full of TTI batteries clean, and when I went looking for parts there was nothing available except replacement filters and hoses.

The reputation Emerson built is still strong; unfortunately it's TTI at the reins of that reputation now. We had one particularly belligerent customer who decided it was time to "trade in" his old Emerson powered table saw for a new one under the lifetime warranty. He felt he was entitled. We ran every piece of scrap wood we had through that saw and couldn't get it to exhibit any problems. After we sent it back to the guy, he sabotaged it (can't remember what exactly he broke), so TTI agreed to replace it. TTI sent him a brand new saw...made by them. I remember one of the techs saying the customer was an idiot because the saw he intentionally broke was better than the one he would get as a replacement.

People don't like to hear that Ridgid has gone the way of everyone else, but it is what it is. If you want a $100 power tool with li-ion batteries and a lifetime warranty, it ain't coming from the US.

I had a Craftsman, but it broke. I got a Rigid to replace it. It still works. I can remove the head and use it as a leaf blower or car dryer.
