SHELL or PENNZOILconventional 5w-20 ?

Considering using 5w-20 for the '08 YARIS for the cold months ahead . Which would you choose ? Here's the T.D.S. sheets for comparison . www.shellusserver.com/products/pdf/FormulaShellMotorOils.pdf from AUG. 2007 and the PENNZOIL T.D.S.from APRIL 2008 , www.pennzoil.ca/documents/Pennzoil%20Conventional.pdf . Read some good things of the PENNZOIL 5w-20 in the U.O.A. section . Couldn't find any for the SHELL 5w-20 . Would run it from late OCTOBER or early NOVEMBER up to early / mid APRIL . Thanks

If toyota uses a 0w20 for their synthetic oil at the dealership then Im sure you can run anything you want in between.

It does , but a few years ago TOYOTA corporation sent out an T.S.B. for the approval of 5w-20 in the YARIS and 0w-20 for other TOYO / SCION vehicles . Here it is , www.chrysanindustries.com/pdf/products/toyota_tsb071002.pdf . We got an e-mail sent by the TOYOTA service center manager where we bought the sedan that gives the okay so we have it on record should anything occur with the engine while using the 5w-20 .

You want an answer? OK. The new Pennzoil Conventional is very good.
Even though the old version is very good, why not make sure you get the latest?
It will say something like 40% cleaning [instead of 15%] cleaning on the bottle.

Formula Shell is a good oil. Pennzoil is better. Where FS really shines is as a low priced budget conventional oil. Same price/close to same price, I'd buy the PZ. If it were double, then the Formula Shell. I wouldn't say I'm all that prejudiced either- Formula Shell 10w30 is in my truck now.

If changed at 5K intervals, your engine probably will not notice the difference. IIRC that FS has a decent shot of moly.

For the moly content in FS its very impressive. So for that alone it is the dino of choice for me. Pennzoil Conventional is fantastic but Im pretty sure their dino has 0 moly.

that's 5w30 , not 20 . The SHELL 5w30 is rather impressive in the tests . Wonder what the difference would be in the additives for the 20 ? Using the SHELL 5w30 for both cars at this time . Will run the 5w-20 for 6 months of the cold weather , unlikely to run it up to 5,000 miles in that time frame . Thanks .
