What is Shell flexi molecule technology in chemical terms? Did not find any discussion here on forums. Is it another marketing name for added ester? Written on Shell Helix HX7 10W40 for example. I do not want to add any oil containing ester to my old Jaguars (bad experience in the past with crankshaft seals). Thank you for clarification.

From their marketing material it's not an ester but an anti-wear additive.

"...These molecules form a protective barrier between critical engine parts and activate when your vehicle endures high pressure or varying temperatures..."

Appears from the marketing description it's just trying to sound techy and innovative while describing ZDDP. Same as Castrol advertising for how wonderful Titanium was.

Higher ZDDP would be bad for modern catalysts I think. Would they add higher ZDDP in modern oil nowadays?
